Understanding nonfiction text is such a huge part of the common core standards. This highly engaging and interactive lesson reviews the nonfiction reading elements that the students must pay attention to in order to understand what they are reading and not miss important details. Incorporated in this lesson are various recipes and nonfiction articles that the students can practice pulling out important information. The other component to this lesson is the sequencing skill taught within the context of both nonfiction and fiction text. Embedded into this lesson are several opportunities to assess the students understanding using this skill.
