Nonfiction reading is very different from fiction reading. There are many parts to nonfiction reading and the 32 labels will help your upper elementary students read and successfully understand what they are reading.
These words can be used in many different ways. They can be a part of your posted word wall. These words could also be the center of your small group reading lessons. Have your students look for these text features in the nonfiction stories they read. As your students work with these nonfiction text features daily, they will become a part of their school language.
