Nonfiction Text Features Assessment or Worksheet in Print and Digital

Being able to identify and use text features is essential to reading and comprehending informational texts. Have your students show what they know with this nonfiction text feature assessment. It consists of four pages. I have always used this resource as an end-of-unit assessment, but you can also use it as part of large group or small group lesson, or as a practice worksheet.

This nonfiction text feature resource contains 22 multiple-choice questions. Just print and go! Students read each question and identify the correct answer. This assessment truly checks your students' understanding of text features. In addition to identifying text features, students must also answer questions about the specific purpose of a given text feature, and some questions require students to demonstrate their knowledge of how to use a particular text feature.

1. Traditional Printables- Print the PDF and distribute the pencil-and-paper assessment.
2. Easel Activity- With this paperless format, an interactive layer has been added to the original PDF! Students can complete this activity on a device. Students read each question and identify the correct answer. This has a multiple-choice format, and students select their answers by moving the circle to select the correct answer.
3. Easel Assessment- Students complete this self-grading quiz on a device, as well. After reading a question, students select their answer from a list of four possible answer choices. With this option, they receive immediate feedback. With this option, the teacher chooses whether or not his or her students receive immediate feedback.
