This is a nonfiction text features assessment. I use this assessment after my students have a firm understanding of using text features. The assessment has both open ended questions and multiple choice questions. It requires students to read a nonfiction selection about cheetahs and then write down things they learned from the piece as well as locate the headings, bold print words, and caption. I think it is a great way to assess if students know the difference between nonfiction text features. The features included on this assessment are: headings, bold print words, captions, index, and glossary.
