Nonfiction Text Features:Before, During, and After 2-Sided Interactive Bookmark
On one side of the bookmark is a Nonfiction Text Features Checklist that students can use to mark off features they have identified in books they are reading. The other side of the bookmark has a graphic organizer that students can fill out about their book. The first box is for them to write what they already know about a topic BEFORE reading about it. The second box is for questions they may have DURING reading, and the final box is for what they learned AFTER reading. I use this bookmark the first few times during shared reading or guided reading so students learn how to use it before using it independently on their own. This is a quick check of student comprehension in nonfiction informational books.
