The following 12 pages are ready to print and use! These pages break Text Traits in to 3 categories: features, supports, and structures. Students will receive a definition of each and a place to show an example of what each trait looked like in their book. For use in my classroom I make copies and 3-hole punch. Students add this booklet to their Reader’s Notebook and we work through one or two traits a day. During our shared reading we find examples of a trait and discuss. Students will fill out that section in their Student’s Guide to Nonfiction Text Traits booklet during their independent read time using a book of their choice or a book assigned to their reading group.
