When students are reading a nonfiction text, give them this interactive worksheet to complete as they go!
This worksheet asks students to actively engage the nonfiction text they read by finding key vocabulary, identifying text features like headings, photographs, or captions, as well as summarizing. They are asked to answer metacognitive questions about how certain text features help them understand what they read.
Students can complete this sheet as they read a nonfiction selection independently or with a partner or group. This sheet can also be used as a whole-group lesson with the teacher leading a discussion of how to find text features and how they can help you as you read a nonfiction text.
Can also be given as a homework assignment or as a literacy center!
