This nonfiction guide was designed to help teachers prepare their students for Common Core extended response questions. It was also designed to help teachers make digital connections to literature.
The guide includes links to two online nonfiction articles.
Five guiding questions are provided that can be the basis for whole class discussion or individual student essay response. Questions focus on main idea, supporting details, and combining the knowledge gained from two texts to formulate responses.
An extension idea is provided in the form of a link that challenges students to make food and exercise choices for 24 hours to see if they can lead a healthy lifestyle.
The guide closes with the five guiding questions on three printable pages with plenty of room for written responses. An answer key is also provided.
