Learning to read CVC words is such a necessary skill and exciting time for emergent readers. Nonsense words give those readers a chance to actually think about what they are reading, for the first time. This Nonsense Words Spin and Say Bundle is the perfect combination of these two skills- reading and thinking! Included with your download you will find every set available in my store that will be perfect for some of your emergent readers for the entire school year. Plus you will be saving 20% by purchasing the entire set as a bundle. That's like getting 2 sets for FREE!

Included within each set you will find five different game boards and corresponding spinners to go along with the common holidays and themes happening during the specified months. These game boards all come with three different printing options: full color with a colored background, color with a white background, and black line for saving that valuable ink in your printer cartridge. You can copy the black line on any seasonal Astrobright paper for a pop of color without using up your precious printer ink or if you have printing restrictions at school! Or you can choose to print in full color or modified color to save a bit of ink as well. I always print the games and spinners on card stock for added durability and I love to put them through my personal laminator for added sturdiness. They last a good long time and avoid getting bent this way.

To play, simply print the game board selection of your choosing along with the matching spinners. Students can use a paperclip as a spinner along with a pencil or you can use an attachable spinner or a plastic spinner overlay. Students spin the spinner and note the picture on which it lands. Find the matching picture on corresponding game board, and read the nonsense words located in the box beside that picture. READ AWAY! This is wonderful practice for DIBELS or Aimsweb assessments and reading in general. I can also guarantee you that in a typical classroom, you will have students that acquire this skill at different times throughout the school year, so the year long bundle will definitely come in handy for some of your students at the precise moment they are ready for this skill!
