This is a fun and exciting way to get students up and moving around the classroom or hallways while practicing measuring with nonstandard measurements. Students scan the QR code on each picture to see if they should measure height or width, and then they record their answers.
I tell my students they are "measurement detectives" and they take it really seriously when they have their clipboards and iPads searching the halls for clues. Your students will love it too! This makes a great assessment as well. You could use this for students to read the room during centers, in place of a boring measurement lesson, or just a fun indoor activity.
I have included color QR code pictures as well as lineart pictures if you choose to do this activity in a small group or individually. This would also be great for math centers!
