North Carolina’s Three Regions: An Introduction to the Mountains, Piedmont & Coastal Plain Regions
This activity begins with location (absolute and relative). I introduce students to the three distinct landforms found in North Carolina (Appalachian Mountains, Piedmont Plateau & Coastal Plain). Then, students are introduced to the three regions of North Carolina.
Each region is broken down by page and specific characteristics, places of interest and resources from the region are included.

*A variety of maps are included as visuals, as well as, fun facts.
The test is composed of multiple choice, vocabulary, fill in the blank and open response.
A chart is included at the end for students to fill in while reading or after reading. Students are required to list the following about each region on the chart:
• important areas or places
• water and river systems
• natural resources
• fun facts they found interesting
ALL information is included in the text.
