In the years before the Civil War, the North and South disagreed over many issues. However, the differences between these two regions of our country find their roots long before then.
This activity analyzes the many differences between north and south: geographic, economic and political. Students analyze photographs as a motivation activity and then review differences between North and South using the following categories:

Each of the above categories is shown in power point as well. The homework assignment accompanying the activity involves students creating a character from either the North or South and explaining his or her point of view on the above topics. A short quiz, consisting of multiple choice and short answer questions, is also included.
