Recently revised! Get your students investigating data that supports that the Pre-Civil War North and South were truly different worlds. This gallery walk activity is student centered and makes them think critically!
First, students analyze 10 different graphs and charts with information compiled from the Census Bureau and Department of Commerce for 1820-1860. The charts can be hung up as a "Graph Walk" or placed on tables as "Stations". Students record their analysis on a graphic organizer. Then, in a Common Core pre-write template, students support claims with data and reasoning. Topics included are:
Populations of North and South
City Growth and Agricultural Growth
Have a great gallery walk!
