This activity offers a brief review of the Northwest Ordinance of 1787 and a create-your-own-ordinance activity. Students are expected to know how territories could become states and the promises/guarantees they gained when they became a state! After the review, student's brainstorm what they would put in an ordinance they create! They will then create their ordinance on the included paper (great when printed on cardstock)! Students can also review map skills by making a map of their newfound territory. This is also included. I had students paste both their ordinance and their map on a half sheet of poster board for a cute craftivity! They enjoyed it.
