Celebrate Black History Month with this biography project featuring notable African Americans. Students will research the life of one of 20 famous African Americans, including Martin Luther King Jr. and Harriet Tubman. They will complete a biography project about their chosen subject by conducting research on one of the featured people and completing a written report on their chosen subjects. They will also create a visual display as a part of their project. The following student materials are included in this 104 page resource:

* Printable fact sheets for each of the included notable African Americans: Two versions of each fact sheet are included (color and black and white versions). The fact sheets are intended to be a springboard for further research into the lives of the featured people. They are not designed to be an all inclusive biography of any individual. Students will conduct further research using print, online, or other resources. 40 pages
* Printable trading cards for each person. Two versions of each ½ page-sized trading cards are included. One version includes an illustration and basic facts about the person. The 2nd version contains an illustration and blank lines for students to write their own text about the famous person. 20 pages
* Printable pocket timelines for each featured person: Students will add important events from the person's life to the timeline, cut out the template, and fold it accordion style to create a pocket timeline. 20 pages
* Note taking templates: Templates are included for creating 5 mini file folders. Each mini file folder contains guiding questions for students to consider while researching their assigned person. Students can write directly on the mini file folders and can use the folders to hold 3” x 5” index cards. 3 pages
* Printable mini book templates: Templates are included for students to use when composing the final draft of their written reports. Templates are included for the book's cover and references, as well as pages for the following topics: Birth and Family, Early Life and Education, Career and Accomplishments, and Legacy. 3 pages
* Cube project templates: Printable student templates are included for creating a cube project about their chosen subject. Students will create a 3D cube featuring different aspects of their person's life. When assembled, the cube becomes a box for students to store artifacts about their person. 6 pages
* Student directions for completing the cube project: Printable directions for students are included. One page includes directions for completing the project. The 2nd page includes illustrated directions for assembling the cube. 2 pages
* Grading rubric: A two page printable rubric is included for grading the the final project. 2 pages
* Blank templates: In the event you or your students decide to research the life of a person not included in this packet, blank templates for the fact sheet, trading cards, and timeline are included. 3 pages
