Use this scavenger hunt to help your students learn about some of the famous people who participated in the California Gold Rush. Included in this download are 13 information cards, a student worksheet, and an answer key for the teacher. Hide the cards in your classroom and let students search for them to discover the answers to the questions on the worksheet. Not only will they be learn some interesting facts about people such as Lola Crabtree, Black Bart, and James Marshall, but they will be practicing their reading skills too.
I use these scavenger hunts as an activity for early finishers, but it can also be used for a fun lesson where students search for the cards or used in a more orderly fashion similar to the game Scoot. No matter which way you use it, students love scavenger hunts!
Combine this hunt with my California Gold Rush Scavenger Hunt to give students a thorough understanding of this important event from American history.
