Note Match Game: This game is great for note name practice!
With this game students will be practicing identifying note names quickly and accurately.
Students will LOVE this game because they get to move around and help each other find partners – they are highly motivated! It’s unlike your normal band activity and the change of pace makes it memorable!
If you’re not familiar with this game, it’s very simple to teach. Each student gets a card with a different set of notes on it. They identify the note names shown on their card. Then they find a partner who has the same letter names as them. (Music notation cards match up with letter name cards.)
DETAILED instructions (with pictures) are included along with a number of ways to SIMPLIFY the game and a number of ways to make it more CHALLENGING. The instructions are written to work with any of our “Find a Partner” games – rhythm value, note name, symbols or terms.
Volume 2 includes FOUR individual sets:
Set 1 – Treble clef note names (goes above the staff to include flute range)
Set 2 – Treble clef note names (goes below the staff to include clarinet range)
Set 3 – Bass clef note names (goes below the staff to include trombone range)
Set 4 – Bass clef note names (goes below the staff to include tuba range)
If some of the cards are too high or too low for your students – no worries! Simply pull those sets out before you start playing or make extra copies of the easier cards if needed. You can add in the more extreme ranges as students improve and need practice on those ledger lines!
EACH SET includes 16 sets matching of cards (32 cards total). They can be printed in full color or, to save ink, you may print them in “greyscale.”
