Completely editable MS Word document. This page is to be used with Interactive Notebooks as an easy way to:
- Grade the notebooks. Students keep this paper (printed on cardstock) in the front or back pocket of their notebook. When it is time to check their progress, students take out the paper and flip to the page you're checking. You can stamp what they have done and students put it back in their pockets for next time. At the end of the unit, students turn in their sheet (NOT THEIR NOTEBOOKS!!! HOORAY NO LUGGING AROUND 100 NOTEBOOKS), you enter their grades and then return them to students.
- Keep Notebook Organized. If printed on cardstock, it makes the Unit page sturdier and helps divide up topics. Also, you'll see attached is a nice little tab (editable also). You can use this or cut it off. To use: students cut out the page and glue the right side to the right side of their notebook. The overlapping tab is then folded along the line and taped from one side of the paper to the other. Tabs are sized so clear tape covers them for stability.
- Student accountability. Any age student, even high schoolers, will do anything for a stamp on their paper. When you come around giving out stamps and 1 person doesn't get a stamp, you know (because you're an awesome teacher) that he/she is going to a) complete that page/assignment like he/she is supposed to and b) know what is expected next time.
