I have watched this Nickelodeon video, "What Happened? The Story of September 11, 2001" with Linda Ellerbee several times. The complete clip is about 22 minutes long. I think that it is one of the more appropriate videos of September 11, 2001, for younger students (I teach grades 3-5). I do feel it could be used in higher grades as well. I have used it as an event that my students write about for a comprehension focus group (CFG) on historical fiction; it is part of the writing phase for the lesson. It would also be great just for learning about September 11, 2001. The download is in the form of a study guide or a note taking outline.
The story used to be available on the Nickelodeon website, but I have not been able to find it. I was able to download the Podcast to my iPhone. I searched using "Nickelodeon September 11." I was also able to access it through the following site (you will have to copy and paste it into your address bar in your internet browser):
I have redone the study guide to be more accurate. I have also put the numbers in numerical order and the key words in alphabetical order. I also have included a key. Please let me know if you see any mistakes.
