This handout includes the poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay," by Robert Frost with close reading questions to help students interpret the meaning of the poem. There are two versions: a Word document and a PDF file.
An answer key is included.
I use this handout after we read Chapter 5 of the novel The Outsiders, by S. E. Hinton. I usually put the poem under the document camera and use each question to discuss the poem with the class until we answer all of the questions. By the end, they clearly know what "Nothing gold can stay" means.
The preview shows the handout, so check it out!
