Notice and Note is a well-known and widely-used closed reading strategy that helps students gain a better understanding of key elements in fictional text. I use Notice and Note in teaching my student annotating strategies. Notice and Note helps students build awareness that authors use signposts in their stories that highlight story elements such as: character motivation, conflict, plot progression, symbolism, foreshadowing, theme or big life lessons, etc.
This package includes:
1. A 38-slide PowerPoint with detailed explanations for each of the six signposts as well as multiple embedded movie clip examples.
2. A note-taking page for student to complete while watching this presentation and keep as a reference for the year.
