Product Description
(PDF FILE) This lesson teaches students how to revise writing and make it more appealing by using colons, ellipses, and dashes. Students view slides that have direct quotes from books Maniac Magee and The Book Thief. Have students look at punctuation marks and try to figure out the reasons for those marks. The following slides after author models are slides that go over the reasons for those marks with more examples to model for their own writing. The students can take notes on the slides and choose examples (there are many) to mimic in own writing. The last few slides are a review of how colons, ellipses, and dashes are used in writing but is shown through cartoons. This is an excellent lesson that helps students take writing to the next level for elaboration and adding more detail to writing. Students also enjoy this lesson.
