Product Description
This product was originally developed to coordinate with the Lucy Calkins Reading Units of Study, Unit 3 Character Studies, Sessions 8 and 9. However, this activity can be used to those teachers wanting to expand readers' knowledge of story elements and character studies. It can be used with any book and can be completed as a class, as a partner activity or independently. This will help teachers assess their students' knowledge on character traits, story elements, and how different characters can help or hinder the main character in solving their problem. Evidence from the text must be used and explained in a written response. I used this as a partner activity after reading the text, Thank You, Mr. Falker by Patricia Polacco and then had my students complete it on their own with our current read-aloud book, Because of Winn Dixie.
