31 word fun puzzle based on The Prologue and Part 1 (Callum and Sephy) of the novel by Malorie Blackman. These are important words from the text which students should be familiar with for discussion and analysis of it.
After they find the words in the grid, a second task asks students to write a new sentence using each word, showing its importance in Noughts and Crosses.
This is the type of activity that you could use with early finishers, or give to a sub teacher, or use as a filler on a day when you have nothing else prepared (or use when the students need a rest). Although students often see the puzzle format as a fun task, it is an active learning activity. It focuses attention on words which students should understand (and should be able to spell).
The solution is printed on the second page.
