Students are instructed to use a picture (32 varying pictures provided) to review three main parts of speech: noun, adjective, and verb. They must list at least 3 of each type of these parts of speech based on the picture (imagination is encouraged!)
On the back, they are instructed to write a short story using all of the nouns, adjectives, and verbs they listed.
Although I am using this at the high school level with sophomores as a review, it is also a good activity for younger students as well when they are first learning the parts of speech!
This is a completely editable document as it is Microsoft Word. Although it is set up for Nouns, Adjectives, and Verbs, you can always extend this lesson to include other parts of speech, such as adverbs, pronouns, and prepositions.
1 extension suggestion -- have students complete this worksheet first, then come back to their story and have them ADD adverbs and prepositions or REPLACE their nouns with pronouns!
