All About Nouns Center Pack!
In this download you will find two different types of noun centers and one additional fun activity for your students to use when they are learning about nouns.
Center #1: Noun Sort
Introduce this center right as you are introducing nouns to your
students. In this center students will sort 32 different nouns into the three main noun categories: person, place or thing. Once the nouns have been sorted, students have a corresponding worksheet to go along with the activity.
Center #2: Common vs. Proper nouns
Introduce this center when you introduce your students to the two types of nouns: common and proper. In this center your students will determine if 32 different nouns are common or proper. Once they have sorted them, they will fill out a corresponding worksheet. If time allows, students can match up a proper noun to each common noun. (Each common noun has a corresponding proper noun.)
As a fun additional to your noun lessons, let your students go on a noun scavenger hunt around their school. Students will set a timer for five minutes, grab a handout, a clipboard, and a pencil, and write down as many nouns as they can find (sorting them by person, place or thing). Once they return to the classroom, they will write creative sentences using the nouns they discovered.
