Noun Clauses answer the question "What?" and can only follow certain verbs and adjectives. When studying Noun Clauses in my Advanced Grammar class, my students had trouble remembering those verbs and adjectives that could be followed by noun clauses, so I created the chart dividing them into "brain verbs/adjectives", "emotional verbs/adjectives", "sensory verbs/adjectives", and "speech verbs/adjectives"; additionally I created the summary page which precedes the chart. This proved to be a useful reminder to them as they became familiar with the function and form of Noun Clauses. Many other handouts, including this one, are available in my book, "Let's Look At It This Way!", which is available in my store. It's actually a pretty good deal. For the cost of a few handouts, you get 50+ to reproduce for your instructional and classroom use.
