This packet is designed to engage students in fun activities that support the learning of nouns. Each item can be used as whole group , center, or individual work.
Here is a short description of each item and ideas on how to use them:
Poster: (Page 3) You can use this poster to introduce the concept and hang it in an area where the students can see it easily for a daily reminder.
Farmer Noun File Folder Game (Pages4-7) This can be used as whole group, small group or individual center. This is designed as a file folder game, but can just put used as a sort without the file folder. Page 4 is a cover photo that would go on the cover. Page 5 is the headers, glue them on the inside of the file folder. Cut out page 6, the students will read these and sort these. Page 7 is a review packet for the center for higher level students who may finish early.
Noun sort-(Pages 8) This can be done in whole group, centers or individual work. Have the students cut out the different nouns at the bottom of the page and glue them under the right category; person, place, thing, or animal. Or if you would like to save time and paper, you can laminate and precut this paper and just do it as a small group center.
Noun Mad Libs- (Pages 9) Fold the paper on the dotted line. Write the type of noun on the lines. After you are done, unfold the paper and write the nouns on the lines in the sentence.s Read the silly sentences you created!
Noun Detectives-(page 10) Fold the paper on the dotted line. Cut the paper on the lines. This will make a flip book. Have the students read each sentence, decide if the underlined noun is a person, place, thing or animal and write which kind it is INSIDE the book. Under the very top flap, you can have the students write the definition of a noun.
