Product Description
The two centers “sort it out” and “sentence sort” give the students the opportunity to manipulate and work with the three types of nouns found in Common Core Standard 1L1b: use common, proper, and possessive nouns.

~It is recommended that you run off the center activities on cardstock and laminate for durability.
~The center activities can easily be stored in zippered pencil pouches or in Ziploc baggies.
~The recording sheets provide a way for you to check your students’ understanding of these concepts.
~A black and white set has also been provided in case you do not want to print in color. You will still need to print the sentences page in color so that students can see the colored nouns.

Sort It Out
1. Take out all of the cards.
2. Lay out the headings (common nouns, proper nouns,
possessive nouns).
3. Read each of the picture/word cards.
4. Decide if the card shows a common, proper, or possessive
noun.
5. Put the cards into the correct group under each
heading.
6. Write 5 words from each group on your recording
sheet.

Sentence Sort
1. Take out all of the cards.
2. Lay out the headings (common , proper, and possessive).
3. Sort the sentences into the correct groups under each heading
by reading and looking at the colored noun in the sentence.
4. Decide if the colored noun is common, proper, or possessive.
5. Put the sentence under the correct heading.
6. Complete the recording sheet.

Thanks so much for purchasing! I would love it if you would leave me feedback and follow my TpT store so that you will know when new products are added. ~Nancy Taylor-Davis
