This unit is designed to meet the Common Core standards for 2nd through 4th grade Language Arts. There are four main lessons about nouns. Each lesson has a PowerPoint slideshow that helps explain the lesson through illustrations, animations and links to YouTube videos and songs about Nouns. Included with each lesson are worksheets for guided or independent practice. Use this unit as an introduction or to supplement the materials that you already have. An optional Pretest and Post test are included for assessment purposes for the overall unit. The theme of the lesson is “Going to the Movies.”

1. A Noun is a Person, Place, Thing or Idea
2. A Noun can be Singular or Plural
3. A Noun can be Common or Proper
4. A Noun can own something, it can be Possessive
