I have included my simple assignment directions to create a BookSnap book review. I created this assignment for 12th grade but it can be used for any novel at the high school level. Questions could be deleted or revised dependent on level.
I created this because I was interested in a new way to have the students present a review of their outside reading books. None of the ideas I found made sense to me, so I made up directions that did!
They will have to utilize Snapchat to create the presentation but there are other ways to make a BookSnap utilizing Google Slides.
I DO NOT include instructions as to how to literally snap their BookSnap since they are all well versed with the app. Besides, this assignment lends to creativity and I wouldn't want to box anyone in with too specific of directions.
If your students are not familiar with Snapchat, this wouldn't be an assignment they would understand.
This is a fun & creative way to have students reflect on their reading and connect to the literature. Videos created on Snapchat can be downloaded to their phone, then uploaded to a computer, and finally submitted to a Google Classroom assignment or Google Slide dependent on your requirements. That is up to you!
