Product Description

Are some of your students finishing their work quickly? Do your students look worn out from back to back analysis work? Do you need a quick substitute teacher lesson plan? Try out this set of activities.

This set of activities are adaptable to any novel and are suitable for grades 6-12.

This set includes four activities kids love.

  • Activity 1: What's on their playlist?
Students will pick three songs they believe would be on a character's playlist. They must cite textual evidence to support their reasoning. Teachers can also have students present their choices or turn it into a mini collaborative activity.

  • Activity 2: Tweeting Drama
Students will write about a conflict between two characters on twitter. They will use relevant hashtags to emphasize their dialogue. This low stress activity helps students understand character motivations and relationships.

  • Activity 3: Texting
Students will write out a texting interaction between two or more characters that is screenshot worthy. Teachers can direct students to base their interactions on certain scenes in a novel or have students choose their situation.

  • Activity 4: Lit(erature) Tattoos
Students will design a tattoo that they believe their chosen character might choose. This helps students understand a character's personality and important events that might have happened in the novel.
