Every great novel starts with a great first line. This set of PowerPoint slides showcases the first lines of 130 novels, ranging from "Call me Ishmael" to "In a hole in the ground, there lived a hobbit."
Artfully arranged, these slides can be printed as posters or played as a slideshow presentation with 2-minute rotation. Cut them out and laminate for bookmarks, party favors, name tags, etc.
Author, title, publication date, and URL source accompany each quote in slide notes.
Spreadsheet can be sorted by quote, author, title, or publication date. It's interesting to see how many great novels start with "It was ..." or "I am..."
Do you have a request for more? Did I miss your favorite? Please let me know and I will work on a 2.0 version right away. Coming soon: a short stories version, plays version, poems version, and speeches/essays version.
