Synopsis: Despereaux is small for a mouse and too smart. He is not interested in the daily activities of mice, scurrying and nibbling. All Despereaux wants is to learn about things and experience things beyond the world of mice. This, of course, does not go over too well with the rest of the mice. He is thrust into the world of the castle, an outcast from the world of mice. In doing so, he is made aware of an attempt to kill the princess. Can Despereaux be the hero he always wished to be?
