Product Description
For Independent Novels or Class Novels!! Perfect reading log for students to use as they read their novels.

The packet is a 13 page PDF packet containing 11 student printables great for assigning students independent novels to read outside of class or during independent reading time.

It consists of 1 page for student's to record due dates and teachers to record all scores.

There are 3 sections in this reading log, each section receiving a score. The cover page for entire log receives a score as well.

Each section contains a page to write a summary and a reflection. There are also 2 pages in each section for vocabulary, in which students select terms, provide parts of speech, definitions and compose their own analogies and sentences using student selected terms from that section of the novel.

This a great tool for any subject requiring reading!!

After student is done reading his/her novel, the entire log is compiled into a folder or report cover complete with a cover page containing an illustration, book title, author, and student's name.

This reading log has been a preferred tool of my own and has proven quite useful.

I assign independent novel reading every 9 weeks. Students are much more receptive to reading when they are allowed to pick out a book of their own interest!

In the product, I've suggested 2 options for assigning due dates and grades can be taken on individual sections or one 140 point grade for the log as a whole. This allows teachers to assess students' comprehension as well as hold them accountable for outside independent reading.

The log provides a way to bring writing into literature, as they must summarize, reflect, compose sentences, and create analogies, etc.

Great for Language Arts Vocabulary or Other Areas!!
