This chart provides a way for students to organize their observations about the movie version of the novel The City of Ember, by Jeanne DuPrau. This is the first "Book of Ember" in the author's series.
Rather than "just watching a movie," students will be able to analyze it effectively by comparing and contrasting it with the novel. As a graphic organizer, this chart heightens the students' attentive responses and improves their awareness of the messages about life, joy, and greed in the city of Ember, as presented through different media.
The film "City of Ember" (2009) is available on DVD at Amazon.com and elsewhere. It runs for 90 minutes.
