*Pick a Pie- Students will place one picture card in each row of the pocket chart. Students will stretch each word and build it using the pie letters. After they have built all words, they can use the recording sheet to create sentences using some of the words from this activity.
*Let's Hear It Bingo- One student will be the caller. Place all picture cards in a baggie or container. The caller will say what the picture is and students will isolate the rime. They will cover this part of the word on their board. The winner (and new caller) is the first person to cover 3. Each picture card contains the rime for self checking. Explain that the caller should not show/say the rime until all students have attempted to cover it.
*Find That Turkey- Students will place all the farmer cards on the pocket chart with room beside for a turkey card. After the farmer cards are laid out, students will say a picture and search for the rhyming word on a turkey card. Example: the farmer card with the picture of a ring would match the turkey card with a picture of a king. Students can then use a recording sheet to spell words from this activity.
*Choose and Cover- Each player will take a game board. Students will take turns choosing a picture card. They will say the word and cover it on their board. After students have attempted to cover the word, they can self check by flipping on the back of the picture card. (You will have to write each word on the back with a sharpie after laminating.) The first player to cover their entire board is the winner! You could also do 3 in a row to win.
*Mix and Fix Sentences- Students will sort word cards by their picture. They will use all 6 cards with the same picture to create a sentence that makes sense. As they create each sentence, they should read it. Students can record their sentences and highlight any digraphs on the recording sheet.
*Raking Up Words- Students will sort cards by the pictures- one pile of boys and one pile of girls. They will then lay each set face down to play memory. Students will take turns picking one from each set. They will decide if the word is real and if it is, they will say the word and keep the pair. The person with the most cards when all cards are gone is the winner.
*Wheelbarrow Words- Students will place all wheelbarrow cards where they can be read in the pocket chart. Players will then ask a player who is not playing the game to place the pumpkin cards behind 5 of the wheelbarrow words. Players will take turns pointing to a word and reading it. If they read it correctly, they get to move it and see if the pumpkin is behind it. If they find the pumpkin, they get to keep it. If the pumpkin is not there, they will just take the word off the pocket chart. The player with the most pumpkins when all words are gone is the winner!
*Which Word?- Students will read the sentence card. They will then look at all the sight word cards and decide which one completes the sentence. Then, students will find the picture that matches the sentence. Students will record the word that completes each sentence on their recording sheet using the number clue on each picture card.
