Eight fun and engaging math activities to keep your students learning while enjoying the Thanksgiving season. This packet contains activities that are great for math centers but can also be used for whole class or small groups.
Here is a list of the activities and the skills they reinforce:
Turkey Cover Up- A game to practice addition facts to 12 by covering the ten frame answers.
Yes or No- An activity for practicing addition facts. Students tell if the number sentence is right or wrong.
On and Off- Players select a number of chips then drop them and record how many land on or off the turkey. Helps reinforce addition and subtraction facts.
Thanksgiving Friends- A game for 2 players that reinforces subtraction facts from 12.
Even and Odd- Students decide if a number card is even or odd. Numbers are from 2-25.
Count the Tally Marks- This activity helps students practice counting by 5’s and using tally marks. Numbers range from 5-25.
Thanksgiving Subtraction Match- For this activity, students find the answers to subtraction problems.
Greater Than, Less Than, or Equal- On this paper/pencil activity, players practice adding dice then comparing the totals and deciding which sign to use to make a number sentence.
