PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This seasonal set includes:
 pumpkin number cards for 0-10
 10 turkey subitizing cards for numbers 2-5 in regular and irregular patterns
 15 turkey five frames for numbers 1-5 in regular and irregular patterns
 student turkey work mat/recording sheet

Suggested Uses:
 Have students work in pairs with a set of number cards and a bag of candy corn. Students can order the number cards and build a set of candy corn to represent each number.
 The subitizing turkeys and five frames can be used for “Quick Look” activities. Show students one subitizing card or frame at a time for 3-5 seconds. Hide the card and ask students “How many did you see?” and “How did you see it?” As students become more proficient, ask “How many more would you need to make 5?”
 Students can also sort the subitizing turkeys and five frames according to the number they represent. Use the pumpkin number cards to five as headers for the sorting.
 Use student work mat with paper feathers or craft feathers. Give each student at least five feathers. Tell students to count out a given number of feathers and place them on the turkey. They can choose to place them on the right, left, or both. Share and discuss the different possibilities. Example: for 3 feathers there might be 3 on the right and none on the left, 1 on the right and 2 on the left, etc.
 You can give students specific directions for the placement of the feathers. Example: place 2 feathers on the left and 2 feathers on the left. How many feathers in all?
