Do you love pocket chart rhymes and activities? These songs, rhymes and activities are full of interactive learning for Thanksgiving and the month of November. This month includes these themes: being thankful, Tom the turkey, the pilgrims, squirrels and owls.
These resources makes it so quick and easy to promote literacy and math with pocket charts. This month you'll be ready for circle time or morning meeting in no time. There are 8 activities for November. Each week you will have BOTH an engaging interactive literacy or math activity and new song or rhyme to share with your students. Differentiation ideas are provided for most of the activities and they are perfect for Pre-K and Kindergarten.
Everything but the pocket chart is included! No wasted effort or extra materials needed. Just print and cut and laminate if desired.
Did you know you don’t even need to use a pocket chart for most of the activities? We often use them as magnet board activities. Just cut magnetic strips, stick on the back and you'll be ready to have movable pieces for your magnet board.
Song/Rhyme: A Busy Squirrel – A cute little rhyme about a busy squirrel gathering nuts.
Activity: Acorn Patterns – MATH – Children will build patterning skills with these colorful acorns. AB, ABC and ABB pattern cards are included. Children can then create their own patterns.
Song/Rhyme: Let's Be Thankful – A cute simple little rhyme with rebus cards about being thankful. Your kids will love reading along.
Activity: Tom the Turkey – Letter sounds, Letter Recognition, Matching Upper and Lowercase Letters. Place the fun rhyme about Tom the Turkey who likes to bake in your pocket chart. The children will be excited to pull letters out of a pie plate and place them in the chart. Lots of opportunity to focus on your children's alphabet knowledge.
Song/Rhyme: The Pilgrims Took a Trip – A rhyme about the pilgrims trip to Plymouth Rock. Lots of pictures for the kids to help read along are included.
Activity: Then and Now – Life Long Ago and Life for Us Now – A sorting activity with pictures of houses, clothing, transportation, etc. to help children learn about the differences between the pilgrims life and life now.
Song/Rhyme: Five Little Owls – The children will love this silly rhyming poem in which the baby owls say all kinds of silly things instead of “Who” as the mother owl tries to teach them. This is truly a favorite in my classroom and I hope it will be in yours. Picture cards are included for moo, two, blue, glue, zoo, boo, and shoe.
Activity: Owl CVC Rhymes – “A” vowel – Continue rhyming practice with this sorting activity for _at, _an, _ag, _ab, _ap, _ad, and _am. Start with just a few word families and then add as the week progresses.
