I use journals every month with my firsties. I like to bind them using the plastic coils. I set them up so that the “draw a picture” page is on the left and the writing page is on the right. This means some of the pages will need to be run back to back. I have also included 2 pages without prompts and a picture page - I like to use these with the “Look Back and Writes” that go along with each story in our Reading Series. I make labels and stick the prompts on those pages. After completion at the end of each month, I unbind and save the journals. At the end of the year, I bind all of them together. Parents have a wonderful keepsake of their children’s writing for the year.
These pages can also be used as separate writing pages if you do not wish to bind them in a journal.
