Pg. 13-19 My Preposition Day with Ben! – A fun writing activity that is almost a game! What would it be like to spend a day with Ben Franklin? There’s a catch! You have to choose prepositions from the pile and use them in a sentence on each page! Fun!
Pg. 20-24 The Ben Franklin Gazette! – a twist on the Philadelphia Gazette that Ben Franklin was owner and editor of – Copy off boxes onto gray construction paper, copy off writing pages on copy paper – write facts about Ben Franklin as well as your opinions on his best invention and system he put in place – glue the writing onto the gray boxes, then cut out the gray boxes and glue the boxes onto a long black or white construction paper to make your own newspaper display – have students arrange them before they glue them
Pg. 25-31 Zap! – you will need a timer for this game- put cards face down in a pile, take turns picking up a kite and reading the word, keep it if you read it correctly, place it back if you read it incorrectly, take turns going around in a circle, if you pick up the zap card, return all your cards and the zap card back into the pile - Whoever has the most cards at the end of the game – wins! – a review of all Unit 6 words - can be laminated – 2 to 4 players
