These materials are part of a 2 week unit in which students learn about nuclear reactions (follows Glencoe Matter and Change chemistry book) and then take a stance on using nuclear energy as an alternative fuel source. Students practice argument throughout the unit. Students analyze a debate on TED and phet simulations (alpha and beta decay) are used to analyze nuclear reactions. There are some great ideas for incorporating argumentation and writing for science. The notes powerpoint can be found in my store!
