This Nuclear Energy package shows how nuclear fusion can be used to produce energy. It also discusses environmental and technical issues in producing nuclear energy from nuclear fusion.
The package includes a 19 slide PowerPoint presentation which explains what nuclear fusion is, and why there is so much interest in fusion as a power source. The PowerPoint shows how nuclear fusion releases energy and the types of transformations the energy undergoes in order to make electricity.
The presentation makes liberal use of diagrams and pictures to illustrate the points simply and clearly. This presentation is suitable for multiple grade levels.
The package also includes a nuclear fusion reading comprehension article with assessment test and answer key,
an Illustrated nuclear energy vocabulary sheet, and four STEM projects
to enable students to explore additional nuclear related topics and issues.
This package covers, in a simple, fundamental way, what nuclear fusion is, what the difficulties are with developing fusion, and how nuclear energy is transformed to electricity. The advantages and drawbacks of fusion are also covered as well as the environmental benefits and challenges of nuclear fusion. These materials are aligned with Common Core, and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and follow the 5E method as well.
What you will get in this Package:
A Set of engagement questions
to create interest and draw out students’ prior knowledge and conceptions.
