This is an interactive math game that provides exciting practice of almost any early math concept! Students work cooperatively in small groups to identify a number based on a given clue (addition problem, measurement image, base ten block poster, position on hundreds chart, etc.). They find a ball with that number on it and race to be the first to get their team's ball in the basket.
This game is a class favorite that can be played OVER and OVER again. This packet includes sets for the following NINE games:
- place value (ex: 3 tens and 7 ones)
- base ten blocks (ones, tens, and hundreds)
- +/- 1 and +/-10 on the hundreds chart
- ten frames
- patterns on the hundreds chart (adding and subtracting with tens)
- measurement (inches and centimeters)
- mixed review
You can also utilize the signs in the packet to create a version specifically for your students.
** Please note that you will need a set of small plastic balls in six colors to play this game. These are similar to those found in a ball pit. A package of 100 is around $20 at Walmart, and these balls can often be found at thrift stores and garage sales as well. This game WILL NOT WORK without the balls, so please consider this before purchasing.**
This games is PERFECT for differentiation, as small groups work collaboratively to solve problems, and ALL students have a role in game play.
This set includes a PDF of signs to be printed, an ADDITIONAL PDF with a bonus Ten Frame Upgrade package (an extension to the game to include more practice with ten frames), AND a SMART Notebook version of all of the signs. In this way you can choose how and where to display/project the signs during game play.
You also receive instructions with photos, scorekeeping cards, team sign up cards, and color cards.
This game highlights the following numbers in particular: 0, 6, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 19, 20, 21, 25, 27, 29, 30, 53, 77, 81, 94, 100, 101, 126. These numbers are practiced in a huge variety of ways, making it easy and exciting to challenge students at any level.
This game caters for all students. Involving movement, team work, gross motor skills, and math practice, it will become your "go to" game week after week!
