Working with number bonds helps students to see the relationship between addition and subtraction. In Level 2, students will create all combinations of numbers 6 – 20. Besides a bigger span of numbers, this level expects students to complete all combinations on their own… no clues given from seeing empty number bonds as in Level 1. You might want to show your students the trick of counting from 0 to the featured number while looking at their combinations. All numbers should be represented if they’ve found ALL combinations. For example: In the combinations of five, the “parts” should show the numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
