Number Buddy Crew uses visual clues to help early mathematicians anchor number sense, concepts, and skills to memorable cartoon characters. The character, or Number Buddy, is a visual representation of the number or math concept. Hints are all around and wrapped into each character’s appearance and identity.
Number Buddies (11-20) give the student keys to the many ways a given number may be presented. You will notice on each Number Buddy poster, the number shown in a variety of ways including:
● fingers representing quantity
● English name
● Spanish name
● tally marks
● analog clock time (numbers 11 & 12)
● marbles for quantity and distinguishing even and odd
● ten frame representation
● Roman numeral
● 10 sign and color coded numbers for distinguishing between the ones and tens place
