Product Description
Both the CCSS and TEKS have standards for learning number combinations (composing and decomposing numbers) to 10. Your Kinder and 1st grade students should be practicing number combinations daily! This is a foundational skill, and you'll want to stock your classroom with a variety of activities for learning number combinations to keep the students engaged.

In this activity, students will pull linking cubes from a bag without looking, group the cubes by color, and record their number combinations on the recording sheet.

*PLEASE NOTE: These are recording sheets only. To use the sheets to their full benefit and provide students with concrete learning, you will need to supply linking cubes (also called snap cubes or Unifix cubes).

It’s important to connect the hands-on experience with pictorial representations and symbolic notation (numerals, equations, etc.). These recording sheets incorporate representational (pictorial) and abstract (symbolic) learning into a concrete activity. Two versions of the recording sheets are included for flexibility.
