This center focuses on tactile composition and decomposition numbers 3-10. Teachers may precut and laminate the manipulatives provided at the bottom of each placemat. Recording templates and placemats may be laminated as well for multiple uses. Children compose/decompose sets of 3-10 and record their findings for each number set.

9 apples – in a boy's vs. a girl's basket
8 penguins – on ice vs. in the water
7 rockets- on the moon vs. in space
6 kittens – on a wall vs. on the ground
5 frogs – on a log vs. in a pond
4 butterflies - on a flower or in the sky
3 bees - in the hive vs. in the sky
Placemats and recording templates can also be used as worksheets for individual student use.
