This center activity includes 3 levels to allow teachers to easily differentiate in their math centers.
Students read the riddle cards, make a model with place value blocks, and locate the answers on the 120 chart. Students also have the option of recording their answers on the provided recording sheet.
Supported: The focus is on building two digit numbers using tens and ones blocks. . With partners students read the riddle, build a model with place value blocks, count, and locate the number on the 120 chart.
On level: The riddles include a mix of wording. Some say _tens and _ones. Others say _ones and _ tens. Students have to demonstrate understanding of the tens and ones place in order to correctly build models and locate numbers on the 120 chart.
Advanced: The focus is on regrouping ones to create tens. Higher level thinking is required. Students will need to explain what happens when they have ten or more ones. This set also includes tens and ones/ ones and tens.
